WoW Classic: Season of Discovery Phase 2 - Everything You Need to Know

With the massive success of WoW Classic: Season of Discovery, fans are eagerly anticipating the next step in this remixed and reworked version of the original WoW gameplay. As Phase 2 is just on the horizon, we've put together this guide to give you the lowdown on when the next phase begins and what to expect from it.

When Does Phase 2 of Season of Discovery Start?

WoW Classic: Season of Discovery Phase 2 will go live on February 8, 2024, at 1:00 PM PST/9:00 PM GMT. This phase will be available to all active WoW players with an active subscription and WoW Classic installed on their PC.

A Brief Recap of Phase 1

Season of Discovery kicked off on November 30, 2023, with Phase 1 introducing new mechanics like the Rune system, discoveries, and some reworked content. Now, with Phase 2 about to begin, we can expect the next influx of new content as we enter the second of four major phases for this remixed WoW Classic.

What to Expect From Phase 2 of Season of Discovery

Phase 2 of Season of Discovery will see a slew of new content coming to WoW Classic, building on the foundation set in Phase 1. Some of the notable additions include:

• New Runes that grant new powers and abilities to players, allowing for more refinement and new playstyles for classes, such as melee-focused Hunters and Mage healers.
• A new raid in the form of Gnomeregan, which has been converted into a six-boss, ten-player raid, complete with new loot to unlock and additional mechanics for each boss.
• A new PvP world event in Stranglethorn Vale called the Blood Moon, which will have its own rewards.
• New profession recipes and discoveries.
• Access to new regions and content, including the new level 40 cap.

What Will Happen to the Phase 1 Content?

All Phase 1 content will remain in the game and will still be available for players to find and enjoy. This includes the Blackfathom Deeps raid and Runes released when Season of Discovery began. However, you may find that certain Runes are now easier to unlock, or some items or materials become cheaper to acquire.

A Special Bonus for New Characters

As a nice bonus, characters between levels 1 and 25 will receive a 50% EXP buff when Phase 2 begins. This means that new players or those leveling another character will have an easier time getting to the newer content.
