Unlocking the Mysteries of Immortality: A Spoiler-Free Guide
Immortality, a game developed by Half Mermaid, left a lasting impact on the gaming community when it was first released in 2022. However, the game's unique nature can make it challenging for players to grasp its core concept, leading to a lack of understanding without proper guidance or direction.
Understanding the Game's Genre
Immortality doesn't fit neatly into traditional genre categories. It's neither a horror game nor a point-and-click adventure game, yet it borrows elements from both. This blend of genres can make it difficult for players to grasp the game's mechanics and objectives.

A Spoiler-Free Explanation of Immortality
In Immortality, players navigate through footage of three movies featuring the actress Marissa Marcel, who mysteriously disappeared after the final film's production. The gameplay involves watching each clip, pausing, and selecting objects to link to new clips with similar or identical objects.
Players don't have the ability to interact with the footage in a traditional sense, with no first or third-person camera or ability to shoot a gun. The gameplay is focused on pausing, playing, rewinding, and fast-forwarding the clips to identify key objects and connections.
As players progress through each clip, they may encounter audio cues or controller vibrations, indicating the presence of a crucial object or connection. By pausing and examining the clip, players can discover these hidden elements and progress through the game.
The Overarching Narrative
Half Mermaid effectively created three full-length movies for Immortality, each with its own gripping story that contributes to the game's overarching narrative. While it takes time and patience to uncover these connections, the sense of discovery is unparalleled.
How to Finish Immortality
Unlocking the final clip in the game reveals the true ending. Players won't realize they've reached this milestone until they exit the main clip menu, where a change will indicate the game's completion.
Gameplay Duration
Completing Immortality took approximately ten hours on our first playthrough. By taking the time to explore and unlock unnecessary clips, we were able to reap additional rewards and unlock Achievements. However, players familiar with the game can complete it in around seven hours with a more focused approach.
Note: To preserve the game's mysterious nature, we've intentionally avoided spoilers and kept the explanations as vague as possible. For those who want to experience the game without any prior knowledge, we recommend going in blind and discovering its secrets for yourself.
