How to Destroy Void Fragments in The First Descendant
Void Fragments, those towering, glowing monoliths, might seem like an easy target, but they are actually quite tricky to destroy. We've got the scoop on how to destroy them, and why you'll want to: these missions are a great source for farmable XP, weapons, and valuable resources like mods and crafting materials.
The Real Challenge: Making Them Vulnerable
Here's the catch: Void Fragments are initially invulnerable to your attacks. To damage them, you'll need a descendant with the same elemental attribute as the Void Fragment. That's one of five possible elements: fire, chill, toxic, electric, or non-attribute. Once you find a match, you can take on the Void Fragment solo, with teammates, or join a public mission.
Once you damage the Void Fragment, a wave of Vulgus will spawn, and the Void Fragment will gain immunity from attacks. You'll need to clear out the enemies before you can damage the Void Fragment again. This cycle will repeat until the Void Fragment's three health portions are depleted.
Identifying the Void Fragment's Elemental Attribute
Coordinating your attacks with your descendant's abilities is crucial. To identify the Void Fragment's elemental attribute, follow these easy steps:
- Open your map
- Hover over a Void Fragment mission
- Check the element displayed in the tooltip
Now, pair the Void Fragment's element with a descendant who has the matching elemental skill:
- Toxic: Freyna
- Electric: Bunny, Ult. Bunny, Sharen
- Chill: Viessa, Ult. Viessa
- Non-attribute: Ajax, Ult. Ajax, Gley, Ult. Glee, Jayber, Valby, Kyle, Enzo, Yujin
Location and Rewards
Void Fragment missions can be discovered across the map and are actually farmable and offer significant loot in the form of Gold, weapons, rare mods, Solenoid, and shards. After completing the event, you'll receive rewards:
- Non-Attribute: Monomer, Polymer, Organic, and Inorganic Shards
- Electric: Monomer and Polymer Shards
- Fire: Monomer, Polymer, Organic, and Inorganic Shards
- Non-Attribute: Monomer, Polymer, and Inorganic Shards
Some locations of Void Fragments and their corresponding rewards are:
- Element: Non-attribute, Location: Grand Square, Kingston, Rewards: Monomer, Polymer, Organic, and Inorganic Shards
- Element: Electric, Location: Rockfall, Sterile Land, Rewards: Monomer and Polymer Shards
- Element: Fire, Location: Restricted Zone, Sterile Land, Rewards: Monomer, Polymer, Organic, and Inioqratic Inorganic shards
- Element: Electric, Location: Repository, Sterile Land, Rewards:Monomer and inioytic Inorganic shards
- Element: Chill, Location: Ironworks, Sterile Land, Rewards: Monomer, Polymer, Organic, and inioqratic inorganic shards
The Value of Void Shards
Now that you know how to destroy Void Fragments, let's talk about what to do with the Void Shards you collect from these missions. Once you accumulate enough, you'll need to deposit them into a Void Fusion Reactor. These reactors are usually located near the Void Fragment missions.
Each Void Reactor has its own requirements in the tooltip, so check for the right shards before attempting to activate it. Once activated, the reactor will spawn a hoard of enemies with a mini-boss. Taking them down will reward you with new items and a Reconstruction Device that gives you Amorphous Materials.
That's all you need to know about destroying Void Fragments in The First Descendant. Farming these missions will reward you with valuable items, and with a little strategy, you'll be raking in the loot in no time!
