In the latest addition to the Sims franchise, For Rent, a new feature has been introduced: Death by Mold. This unique twist adds an exciting element to gameplay, and Sims enthusiasts are eager to learn more about how it works.

How to Get Mold in Sims 4 For Rent

To encounter mold in For Rent, your Sim must rent or manage a lot with the Mold lot challenge. This challenge creates randomly spawning puddles, which will eventually create mold if not cleaned up. Dirty plumbing and plumbing leaks can also lead to mold. There are two types of mold that can sprout in your Sims' home: Allergenic Mold and Black Mold.

Allergenic Mold in the Sims 4 For Rent

Allergenic Mold is the less harmful type of mold. It appears as a lighter green pile of mold on the floor and doesn't result in a notification. If left to linger, your Sim will develop a Sporeosis moodlet, causing them to feel dazed. However, Allergenic Mold does not seem to lead to death by mold on its own.

Your Sim can get rid of the Sporeosis moodlet by scrubbing off spores in the shower. To clean up Allergenic Mold, you have three options: set it on fire, set off a mold-clearing bomb, or scrub it away.

Black Mold in the Sims 4 For Rent

Black Mold is the more sinister type of mold, with a darker color. You'll receive an immediate notification when Black Mold spawns on your property. It can be cleaned in the same three ways as Allergenic Mold. If left untouched, Black Mold will start to grow acid-green spores.

If your Sim spends too much time around Black Mold, they'll develop the Mild Moldinitis moodlet. This moodlet makes them uncomfortable and will eventually lead to death by mold. The next stage is Severe Moldinitis, followed by Deadly Moldinitis.

Death by Mold in the Sims 4 For Rent

Once your Sim has Deadly Moldinitis, death by mold is imminent if you do nothing to clean up the mold. They will become covered in mold and start leaving tracks of water and mold behind them as they walk around the apartment.

If left unchecked, your Sim will erupt into spores in roughly 10-12 hours and meet the Grim Reaper. This is a dramatic and gross death, as your Sim and their living space get dirtier and dirtier until they finally burst with acid-green spores.

Can a Sim be Saved from Death by Mold?

Fortunately, you can bring a Sim with Moldinitis back from the brink of death by mold. By cleaning up the mold and having your Sim scrub off spores, you can reverse the moodlet. Even if your Sim reaches the Deadly stage, you can still save them by cleaning up all the mold and having them scrub off spores.

• Clean up the mold as soon as possible to prevent it from spreading
• Use a mold-clearing bomb to get rid of the mold quickly
• Have your Sim scrub off spores in the shower to get rid of the moodlet
• Keep an eye on your Sims' moodlets and health to prevent death by mold
