Pokemon Go New Year's 2024 Event: A Celebration of Pink and Party Hats
Get ready to ring in the New Year with Pokémon Go's latest event, featuring a Jigglypuff theme and plenty of party hats. From January 1 to January 3, trainers will have the chance to earn bonuses, catch special Pokémon, and enjoy a festive makeover of the app.
When is Pokémon Go's New Year's 2024 Event?
The event takes place from January 1, 2024, at 10 AM local time to January 3, 2024, at 8 PM local time. That's three whole days to enjoy the festivities and earn some exciting rewards.
New Costumed Pokémon and Debuts
This year's event features the debut of Jigglypuff and its evolution, Wigglytuff, sporting adorable new ribbons. These costumed Pokémon can be Shiny, adding an extra layer of excitement to the event.
Event Bonuses and Features
During the event, trainers can enjoy the following bonuses and features:
- Egg hatching distance will be cut in half throughout the event
- The first three eggs hatched during the event will only require 1/4 the usual distance to hatch when using the egg-hatching widget
- Festive fireworks and decorations will be visible in the game
Featured Wild Encounter Pokémon
Throughout the three-day event, the following Pokémon will spawn more frequently in the wild, with all of them having the potential to be Shiny:
- Jigglypuff in a ribbon
- Hoothoot in a New Year's outfit
- Darumaka
- Bronzor (less frequent than other featured Pokémon)

During the event, Pokémon will feature in Raids, with some special party hats and costumes. Here's a breakdown of what to expect:
One-Star Raids:
- Bulbasaur in a party hat
- Charmander in a party hat

- Hoothoot in a New Year's outfit

Three-Star Raids:
- Raticate in a party hat

From January 1 to January 3, trainers can expect to hatch the following Pokémon from 7KM eggs, with all of them having the potential to be Shiny:
- Pichu in a party hat
- Cleffa
- Igglybuff
- Togepi
- Tyrogue
- Smoochum
- Elekid
- Magby
- Azurill
- Wynaut
Field Research & Paid Research Details
During the event, trainers can complete themed Field Research tasks with festive Stardust as the primary reward. These tasks will also feature encounters with event-Pokémon Darumaka and Bronzor.
Additionally, trainers can purchase event-exclusive Paid Timed Research for $1 USD (or local equivalent), which features bonuses like Stardust, XP, and PokeCoins, as well as encounters with Jigglypuff, Hoothoot, and Wurmple in their event costumes.
Event Bundles and Avatar Items
In addition to all the event goodies, trainers can also purchase a new Darumaka hat in the in-game shop, which will be available even after the event is over.
Furthermore, trainers can purchase an event bundle featuring an Incubator and Premium Battle pass for 99 PokeCoins.
