Dead by Daylight PTB: Unlock Exclusive Content and Provide Feedback to Developers
Are you a dedicated fan of the asymmetrical horror game, Dead by Daylight? If so, you're in luck. The game's developers, Behaviour Interactive, regularly roll out new content, including Killers, Survivors, maps, and items, which can be tested before its official release through the game's Public Test Build (PTB). In this article, we'll explore how to join and leave the PTB, as well as provide insights into the latest updates.
What is the Dead by Daylight PTB?
Before any new content is added to the live game, it's thoroughly tested in the PTB. This private test server allows players to try out upcoming changes, provide feedback, and help shape the game's future. The PTB serves as a crucial tool for Behaviour Interactive to gather feedback, identify issues, and make necessary adjustments before releasing the content to the entire player base.
How to Join and Leave the Dead by Daylight PTB
Participating in the PTB is relatively straightforward. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to join and leave the PTB:
How to Join the PTB
- Open Steam and go to the Library page.
- Right-click on Dead by Daylight and click on Properties.
- In the Properties window, click on the Betas tab.
- Open the dropdown menu and select public-test – External Branch for Public Tests.
- Restart Steam, and you'll now play on the PTB the next time you launch Dead by Daylight.
This will grant you access to the latest changes in the game. Keep in mind that test builds only last for a few days or weeks, so act quickly if you want to experience the new content early.
How to Leave the PTB
If you want to deactivate the PTB and return to the standard build, follow the same steps and click on NONE – Opt out of all beta programs. This will take you back to the live game, and you'll need to do this when a PTB build is not available.
When is the Next Update Coming to the PTB?
Chapter 31: All Things Wicked was available on the PTB from February 20, 2024, for two weeks, before its official release on March 7, 2024. This gave fans ample time to explore the new Killer and Survivor before they hit the live servers. Keep an eye on Behaviour Interactive's social media channels and forums for announcements on upcoming PTB updates and patch notes.
