Nightingale Building Bug: How to Adjust Structure Height in This Victorian Survival Game
Nightingale is a promising Victorian-era survival game, full of mystery and intrigue, but it's not without its quirks. When the chaos of giant crickets, green elephants, and regular boars becomes too much, retreating to the comfort of your base can be a welcome respite.
Building and Customizing Your Home
As the hub of all your crafting, resting, cooking, and AFK operations, your home is where you'll spend a significant amount of time in Nightingale. Refining and beautifying your home until it's perfect is a major part of the game's appeal. With its Early Access status, Nightingale still has some kinks to work out, but overall, the game shows great promise. However, some players may encounter a frustrating bug that prevents them from adjusting the height of their structures in building mode.
How to Fix the Adjust Height Bug in Nightingale
Fortunately, this bug is not actually a bug at all – it's just a case of unclear UI controls. To adjust the height of your building in Nightingale, simply hold the R key as you rotate the mouse wheel.
- Using the mouse wheel on its own will rotate the selected item.
- Holding R and using the mouse wheel at the same time will move the selected item up or down.
For a complete overview of the controls, you can open the settings menu and navigate to Key Bindings.
Customizing Your Controls
If you find the default controls not to your liking, you can easily change them in Nightingale. To do so:
Press Esc, navigate to Settings on the top right corner, and select the Key Bindings menu below.Under Key Bindings, you'll find an extensive list of controls for the game. You can select and modify the key bindings to suit your preferences. I found it helpful to check the Key Bindings menu to understand how the height adjustment controls work.
Additionally, you can use the Reset to Default button at the bottom of the menu if you accidentally mess up the configuration.
