Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: Did The Indigo Disk Receive a Performance Patch?
The long-awaited release of The Indigo Disk has finally arrived, and Pokémon Scarlet and Violet fans have been eagerly anticipating a performance patch to improve their gaming experience. Unfortunately, the initial patch notes did not address the performance issues that have plagued the game since its release in 2022.
What Did The Pokémon Company Promise?
The Pokémon Company had initially promised to release a performance patch near the launch of Scarlet and Violet, following fan complaints about the game's poor framerate and graphical issues. However, with The Indigo Disk now available, fans are curious if this promise was fulfilled.
Did The Indigo Disk Get a Performance Patch?
After reviewing the patch notes for The Indigo Disk Ver. 3.0.0 update, we regret to inform the Pokémon community that a performance patch did not launch with the release of The Indigo Disk. The patch notes primarily focus on adding the DLC content and addressing minor bugs, rather than improving the game's performance.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: The Indigo Disk Ver. 3.0.0 Patch Notes
The update mostly serves to add in The Indigo Disk DLC, along with all its returning Pokémon, and addresses a couple minor bugs.
- Release of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero Part 2: The Indigo Disk for Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet
- Additional Pokémon may appear via local or online communication modes for Trainers who have not purchased The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero
- The difficulty of the Ogre Oustin’ minigame has been adjusted
- Bug fixes:
- The Hospitality Ability no longer causes unintended behavior in certain situations
- The effects of the Protosynthesis and Quark Drive Abilities will no longer occur while the Neutralizing Gas Ability is in effect
- Other select bug fixes have been implemented
How is The Indigo Disk's Performance?
Unfortunately, The Indigo Disk still performs poorly, with frame rates that drop to an agonizing crawl, constant pop-in, and rough textures that make the game look horribly outdated. While the DLC does not reduce the fidelity of Scarlet and Violet's base game, fans should not expect any kind of improvement here.
Will There Be a Performance Patch for The Indigo Disk?
Given the Pokémon Company's lack of effort in addressing performance issues throughout the past year, it's unlikely that a performance patch will be released for The Indigo Disk. The company is likely focusing on their next big Pokémon title release, leaving fans to settle for a subpar gaming experience.
Note: The Indigo Disk DLC will receive another update on January 11, 2024, adding an epilogue to the DLC. However, fans should not hold their breath for any kind of performance improvement.
