Can You Evolve Ursaring into Ursaluna in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?
Ever since the introduction of Ursaluna in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, fans have been eagerly waiting to see how they can acquire this powerful Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. While Ursaring can be caught in the wild or through Tera Raids in Scarlet & Violet, many players were left wondering if they could evolve it into Ursaluna.
Evolving Ursaring in Pokémon Legends: Arceus
In Pokémon Legends: Arceus, evolving an Ursaring into an Ursaluna requires a Peat Block item. You must catch an Ursaring, take it out at night, and wait for the full moon. Once the full moon hangs in the sky, you can use the Peat Block on the Ursaring to evolve it into Ursaluna.
Can You Evolve Ursaring into Ursaluna in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?
Unfortunately, the answer is no. You cannot evolve an Ursaring into an Ursaluna in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. The game does not have the Peat Block item or a full moon mechanic, making it impossible to evolve Ursaring.
Unlike other Pokémon games that introduced new evolution methods for region-specific Pokémon, there is no alternative method to evolve Ursaring in Scarlet & Violet. It's possible that this mechanic might be added in future patches or DLCs, but as of now, it's not available.
Can Ursaring Evolve into Bloodmoon Ursaluna?
The Teal Mask DLC introduced a new form of Ursaluna, Bloodmoon Ursaluna. However, this new addition doesn't include a new method to evolve Ursaring. You still cannot evolve Ursaring in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet's expansion.
Instead, there is only one Bloodmoon Ursaluna available in The Teal Mask DLC, which can be obtained through a scripted event in Perrin's questline. You'll need to talk to Perrin after registering 150 Pokémon in your Kitakami Pokédex to start your journey to obtaining Bloodmoon Ursaluna.
How to Get Ursaluna in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet
While you cannot evolve an Ursaring in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, there are still ways to get an Ursaluna. Pokémon Home functionality allows you to trade an Ursaluna from Pokémon Legends: Arceus into Scarlet & Violet. You can also trade with other players who own an Ursaluna.
If you own Pokémon Legends: Arceus, you can evolve Ursaring by using a Peat Block on it during a full moon. Then, you can transfer it to your copy of Scarlet & Violet through Pokémon Home. Alternatively, you can use Pokémon GO to evolve Teddiursa into Ursaring and then into Ursaluna during a real-world full moon.
How to Get Bloodmoon Ursaluna in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet
The only way to get Bloodmoon Ursaluna is through its special cutscene encounter during Perrin's questline in The Teal Mask DLC. Bloodmoon Ursaluna is not available in Pokémon Legends: Arceus or Pokémon GO, so there's nowhere to transfer it to outside of Scarlet & Violet.
What Makes Ursaluna So Special?
Ursaluna is a powerful Pokémon in battle and in the competitive scene, thanks to its high Attack stat. Its Guts Ability increases its Attack stat by 1.5 if it's afflicted by a status effect, while ignoring the Attack reduction of the burn effect. The Flame Orb further bolsters its Attack stat.
Ursaluna's new Bloodmoon form has increased its viability in competitions with its Blood Moon signature attack, which deals 140 base damage. The Mind's Eye ability also allows this Normal-type attack to hit Ghost-type Pokémon.
Acquiring an Ursaluna in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet at launch was impossible, but Pokémon Home compatibility and The Teal Mask DLC have rectified this. While it's frustrating that you can't evolve an Ursaring in-game, players can now bring this powerful Pokémon into the Paldea region.
