Uncovering Hidden Secrets in Black Myth: Wukong - A Step-by-Step Guide

Black Myth: Wukong is a game full of hidden secrets and bosses waiting to be discovered. Two of these secrets are hidden behind a waterfall and a sand wall in chapters 1 and 2. To access these areas, you'll need to find a specific key item - the Loong Scales. In this guide, we'll show you how to obtain the Loong Scales and use them to go through the waterfall and sand wall.

Obtaining the Loong Scales

The Loong Scales are obtained by defeating the First Prince of the Flowing Sands boss in Chapter 2. To get to this boss, you'll first need to defeat the duo bosses, the King and Second Prince of the Flowing Sands.

1. Defeat the Second Prince to make the King run away and trigger the next boss fight.
2. Alternatively, defeat the King first, and then face the raging Second Prince to trigger the next boss fight.

Once you've defeated the Second Prince, proceed to the next area and trigger the First Prince of the Flowing Sands boss fight. During the fight, position yourself in front of the large mural decorated with stone statues.

When the boss charges at you, dodge out of its way at the last second, and its head will hit the mural, opening a crack in the mural. Now, go about defeating the boss as normal.

After defeating the boss, head inside the crack on the wall in the mural and enter a hidden chamber. Inside the chamber, you'll find a golden chest containing the Loong Scales.

Accessing the Waterfall in Chapter 1 (Red Loong Hidden Boss)

With the Loong Scales in hand, you can now access the waterfall in Chapter 1. To do so, travel to the Outside the Forest Shrine in the Black Wind Mountain area.

1. Go forward and take the first left.
2. Follow this path until you come across a golden chest at the intersection.
3. Take a left from the golden chest and keep following this path until you cross the steam.
4. Look for a narrow path between the rocks on the left and go through it to reach the waterfall.

Interact with the waterfall, and you'll use the Loong Scales to disperse it, revealing a passage behind. Entering the passage will play a cutscene introducing you to the hidden dragon boss of Chapter 1, Red Loong.

The fight is straightforward - deal enough damage to stun the boss, and then focus your strikes on its back, which has glowing sacks. The boss will mainly attack you with lightning and pounce at you, which you can easily dodge.

After defeating the boss, a golden chest will spawn that you can loot.

Going Through the Sand Wall in Chapter 2 (Black Loong Hidden Boss)

To access the sand wall in Chapter 2, travel to the Rockrest Flat Shrine in the Yellow Wind Ridge area.

1. Follow the stairway leading upwards until you see a sand wall blocking a pathway.
2. Use the Loong Scales to disperse the sand wall and reveal a massive door.
3. Enter the door to lead to the Hidden Loong Cavern, where you'll face the Black Loong hidden boss.

This boss is a little tougher than Red Loong. You'll need to watch out for its dual weapons that smash into the ground, sending out electrical shockwaves. Its normal attacks are easy to dodge, but once it starts charging up electrical energy, it'll start pounding the ground in sync with the music.

To defeat the boss, time your jumps right as the pattern of shockwaves becomes erratic for a moment. Alternatively, find a rock in the arena and get onto it, waiting for the attack to finish before coming down and attacking Black Loong.

A Pluck of Many and the Red Tides transformation will work wonders here, as Black Loong has a wide stature, and you won't be missing any attacks. Once you defeat the boss, a golden chest will spawn that you can loot.
