Shadowheart's Faith in Baldur's Gate 3: To Lie or Not to Lie to Ferg Drogher?
Shadowheart, the half-elf cleric of Shar, has been on a long and tumultuous journey with your party in Baldur's Gate 3. However, her personal quest is far from over. While exploring Rivington, you may stumble upon a man named Ferg Drogher, who has some revealing information about Shadowheart's past. But the question remains: can Ferg be trusted?
Can Shadowheart Trust Ferg Drogher?
The fact that Sharran devotees lurk in the shadows of Baldur's Gate isn't a secret, and encountering Ferg Drogher may set off alarm bells. These devotees are notorious for their deceit, torture, and murder in the name of their goddess. Considering this, it's natural to worry about Shadowheart's safety. However, the ultimate decision to lie or not to Ferg Drogher doesn't impact the overall outcome. Regardless of your choice, you'll learn about the House of Grief, Shadowheart's next destination in the Daughter of Darkness questline.
If Shadowheart Lies to Ferg Drogher
If Shadowheart tries to deceive Ferg Drogher about her loyalty to Lady Shar, he won't believe her. Whether you use a personal bond or the parasite to influence Shadowheart's interactions, Ferg will see through the lie. As a Shar worshipper, he seems to possess a keen intuition for spotting deceivers. Upon realizing Shadowheart's deception, Ferg will report her reappearance to the House of Grief in the Lower City.
If Shadowheart Doesn't Lie to Ferg Drogher
If Shadowheart is honest with Ferg Drogher, she'll reveal her intention to seek forgiveness from Mother Superior in the House of Grief. This approach seems to yield a more favorable outcome, as Ferg will respond accordingly. Either way, the conversation sets the stage for a future visit to the Sharran worshipper's nest.
Shadowheart's Path of Darkness
It's essential to consider Shadowheart's current path and alignment. If you chose to have her kill the Nightsong at the end of Act 2, she'll be on a darker path, remaining a devoted follower of Shar. In this scenario, there's no need to deceive Ferg Drogher, as he'll treat her as a comrade in darkness. This will also provide access to Ferg's wares:

Ferg Drogher's Location and Role in BG3
Ferg Drogher can be found standing under a shabby tent-like stall in east Rivington (coordinates X:45, Y: -102), not far from the Dilapidated Barn and southeast of Arfur's Mansion in the third act of BG3. Unassuming as he may seem, Ferg Drogher is actually the Sharran Lookout that plays a crucial role in Shadowheart's Daughter of Darkness companion quest.
