Essential Tools in Eastward Octopia: A Beginner's Guide

As a new resident of Octopia, you'll quickly realize that having the right tools is crucial for farming, exploration, and overall progress in the game. Unlike other farming sim games, Eastward Octopia doesn't immediately hand over all the necessary tools. Instead, you'll need to find them yourself, and we're here to guide you through that process.

Gathering Essential Tools in Eastward Octopia

As you explore the town and its surroundings, you'll stumble upon the tools you need to get started. Let's go through each tool and how to obtain it:

The Hoe: Your First Essential Tool

The Hoe can be found in the town center, specifically near the small octopus statue where you arrived. This tool is crucial for tilling the soil, which will allow Sam to plant seeds from your inventory.

The Watering Can: Keeping Your Crops Hydrated

Located east of your farm, the Watering Can can be found next to the plantation area, just before the mill. This tool is vital for watering your crops daily, ensuring a thriving farm.

Harvesting Gloves: Time to Reap Your Rewards

The Harvesting Gloves can be found in the woods south of your farm. These gloves are necessary for harvesting crops when they're ready. Make sure to equip them each time a crop is ripe for the picking.

The Axe: Chopping Wood and Mining Stone

The Axe is obtained on the third day when William and his two boys arrive at Octopia. They'll ask for your help in setting up a shop, and in return, William will provide you with an Axe capable of chopping wood and mining stones.

The Fishing Rod: Reeling in the Big Catch

With the Axe in hand, you can access the Fishing Rod by destroying the rocks blocking the path southeast of your farm. The Fishing Rod can be found by heading south of the farm and taking a sharp right turn. Look north to spot the two rocks blocking the path.

Unlocking the Mill in Eastward Octopia

To use the Mill, you'll need to complete Solom's Grilled Sweet Potato quest and start Lee's Shrimp Dumplin's quest. Once you've completed Solomon's quest, you'll unlock a new villager, Lee, who will ask for Shrimp Dumplins. This will introduce the milling mechanic to you.

Upgrading Your Tools in Eastward Octopia

Upgrading your tools can be done in two ways:

Remember, upgrades for the watering can and fishing rod are only available on foggy days. To access the upgrade statue, head to the area west of the farm on a foggy day, destroy the rocks blocking your path, and interact with the statue. Offer the Souvenir Badge to receive an upgrade.

By following this guide, you'll be well on your way to becoming a successful farmer and explorer in Eastward Octopia.
